Book Club, by Crush + Glow

Because this is my first book club post, these were easy to pick! All really good books here, my faves. Reading is seriously everything. Like, everything! It can change your perspective, help you relate to others, entertain, sharpen your skills, teach you things, influence your life, encourage you to do things…all the good stuff.

#1 Tony Robbins is definitely worth knowing about {and I’m sure many of you do!}, he’s a huge personality and extremely successful. His book Awaken the Giant will have you fired up in less than 2 pages!! Like ready to change the fuck out of your life and get shit done. He tells you exactly what to do. And the proof is in the pudding, his roster of clients and success stories is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. I plan to read this book again and again and again.

#2 The China Study is the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted, it’s massive. The groups of people studied are expansive and thorough, making the findings in this book extremely interesting and hard to dispute. Connections are drawn between the foods we eat and common diseases of the world today. If you didn’t think of food as preventative medicine before, this book will hammer it home and connect those dots for you…for sure!

#3 Cat Marnell is a freaking amazing writer, not only is this memoir entertaining and fascinating but it’s brutally honest and raw. Her story is a weird one, sloppy and dark but also glamorous at times and what I love most is that she says it exactly like it is. Reading this memoir feels like you’re in Cat’s head — her party-girl, beauty editor, drug-addict head, with no details spared. She’s a crazy one but I admire her writing style and approach to storytelling so so so much. This book is really good, I couldn’t put it down. She’s totally not goals but #goals at the same time…when you read How to Murder Your Life, you’ll know what I mean!

#4 Essentialism: the Disciplined Pursuit of Less was kind of like a gateway for me, it opened the floodgates on my desire to do less and have more. Stop being busy but not productive, or overworked but underutilized; remove clutter, think clearly and live a better life! This book teaches you how. I will be gifting this book to a lot of people for a long time coming, it’s so good.

PLEEEASE let me know your favorite books below — any and all kinds! I’ve gotta keep my library stocked.

Lots of love and happy weekend, xx.
