OOOK, so after Thanksgiving dinner I’m obviously thinking about drinking lots of water, eating fresh, alive fruits and veggies and getting my exercise in. But then I started thinking about taking it up a notch, and focusing on foods that are specifically known to help detox and reduce bloat. I mixed together this cocktail and plan to sip and munch on it for the next few days (I’ve also got a spoon right here to help eat up what’s on the bottom of the glass). I already had a glass this morning before yoga and am having another one now. I freaking love chewing on mint, mmm.
Beneficial Ingredients –
Dandelion Root Tea – this tea has a really great flavor, one of my favorites, it also helps your body break down fats during digestion and carry away waste.
Lemon – a natural detoxifier that aids digestion and kind of jumpstarts your insides, lemon is alkalizing and can help curb sugar cravings.
Chia Seeds – chia seeds are a super powerful food being fiber rich, high in protein and calcium, abundant in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, also loaded with potassium and antioxidants. Enough said.
Pomegranate Seeds – high fiber and a super antioxidant which helps keep things clean and calm in your gut, contributing to a disease-fighting environment inside.
Mint – flavorful and refreshing, with blood cleansing properties, mint aids digestion and can help alleviate allergies.
(( I packed some up to take with me on the go ))
Other Anti-Bloat Foods include asparagus, cucumber, ginger, fennel, raw apple cider vinegar, turmeric, quinoa, high-potassium fruits like bananas, pineapple and mangos and probiotic foods like raw sauerkraut and kimchi.
Anti-Bloat Behaviors are good to keep in mind as well – avoid chewing gum, chew your food really well (this is a big one! see here), exercise especially some nice yoga twisting, avoid carbonated water and get good sleep!
Have a great Saturday, xo. B.
