Let’s Talk Poop

Pooping is everything…without it, we are not ok.

Not only does it feel amazing to take big, clean poops, but it’s a sign of good health and it will make you happy.

If you’re not pooping regularly, I bet you’re grumpy AF. Gut health and mental health are intrinsically linked, see here.

There are many things you can do to improve the quality of your poop life, my favorite easy tips are below —

1. This is an obvious one, and an answer to many health issues — but to state the obvious: eat lots of vegetables. Veggies are high in fiber, they’re wet, good roughage, loaded with nutrients and they’re also bulky for the calories — all things that contribute to big, easy, healthy bowel movements.

2. Eat raw sauerkraut, Bubbie’s is my favorite brand. Raw sauerkraut covers all of the points above PLUS it’s abundant in live cultures which feed the good bacteria in your gut and improve digestion. I like to eat it at the very end of the day, as the last food I eat {usually 2 large forkfuls} — it’s beneficial at any time, though, so eat it up however you like.

3. Addpotato starch to your smoothies, this stuff really works to help move things along {!} and makes me feel like my insides are squeeeaky clean. It can be gassy at first, so start small like less than 1/4 teaspoon, but trust me on this one! It’s a great little secret weapon.

4. OK, this is my absolute favorite tip! On the toilet, sit tall, twist and massage. Sit tall, like in yoga class, crown of the head {top of the head, not nose or chin} to the ceiling…really lengthen your spine. Tighten your tummy and don’t forget to breathe. Then gently twist your ribs, keeping hips square/pointed forward — first right and then left. Lean back a little in your twists, might seem silly now but it’s magic on the toilet, you’ll see. Last move is to massage your organs, it’s really easy –up the ascending colon on the right side, across the transverse colon and down the descending colon on the left side. For a visual, see here. This works wonders! I promise.

5. Last tip is to do areal food cleanse, see here for a full free guide {it’s free!}. If you don’t want to do a full cleanse, try a period of time using probiotics and digestive enzymes. If you eat a lot of processed, chemical or sugary foods, a diet high in animal food or if you use a lot of prescription medicine, these could be great way to improve the environment and digestive potency within your gut. I don’t use these all the time but I pulse them in and out of my lifestyle periodically as needed. Use as directed on the package.

Let me know how it goes! ;-).
